Drivers warned of more clean air zones
UK drivers have been warned about the changes to driving laws as well as the introduction of more Clean Air Zones (CAZ) that come into effect in May and beyond.

From this month onward new legislation's for low emission zones will hit the UK.

Ultra-Low Emission Zones (ULEZ) will be expanded across the country this year with several UK cities joining thew scheme on May 30th. These places include Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tamseside, Trafford, and Wigan. However this will only effect coaches, taxis, buses, HGVs, LGVs, and PHVs.

A similar rule will also be placed in Sheffield, Bristol, and Newcastle from July 2022.

Greater Manchester had originally planned to launch a CAZ spanning across the area on may 31 but it has been delayed after talks between the government and the Greater Manchester Air Quality Administration Committee. A new plan for the CAZ is set to be delivered by July 1 2022.

These Clean Air Zones have grown in popularity in recent months following successful launches in Bath, Birmingham, and Portsmouth. We may expect more areas to join the plan in the future.
